Preserving The Island's Unique History

The South Padre Island Hisorical Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 Corp. was established in 2010 with one goal: to preserve and share the island’s unique history. Before the museum had a home, a group of passionate historians and community members began curating artifacts, gathering oral histories, and collecting lost stories of the island. Over the years, these efforts turned into a growing collection that was displayed at different locations, including the South Padre Island Convention Center and Visitor’s Center. Now, thanks to community support and partnerships, the museum is transforming the former SPI Visitor’s Center into a permanent space where these stories can be told for generations to come.
